Short-term rental hosts · own-stock laundry timing

Will clean sheets last
until the return?

A stock total misses when you can use it. Put clean stock, reset needs and usable laundry returns on one timeline, then try a later return.

Define one unit and one stock location

A complete sheet set is not a loose pillowcase. Do not pool queen and king sizes. Clean stock at another property is not automatically available where your reset happens.

Take a clean-only snapshot

Count ready-to-use units at a specific time. Exclude linens on occupied beds, dirty items, laundry in transit and items awaiting inspection. If a return is already included in your opening count, do not add it again.

Write the need time

Your helper may need sheets before the guest arrives. Record the actual reset need time and quantity. A laundry return counts only when it will be clean, checked and accessible at this stock location.

Recheck the order after a delay

Imagine three clean queen sheet sets at Friday 08:00. You need two sets at 10:00 and another two at 14:00. Three usable sets are expected back at noon. The running count is 3, then 1, then 4, then 2.

Fictional scenario: the return moves to 16:00
TimeEventBalance
08:00Opening clean stock: 33
10:00Need 2 sets1
14:00Need 2 more sets−1
16:00Return 3 usable sets2

Ending with two sets does not remove the one-set shortage at 14:00. A negative balance retains unmet demand; it is planning arithmetic, not a count of physical negative sheets.

Keep a running balance

Subtract needs and add returns in time order. For a conservative check, subtract a need before adding a return at the same timestamp. After changing a return time, reorder all events and calculate again; do not simply move a row without rechecking the balance.

Confirm an action, then rerun

In this example, one extra accessible clean set in the opening count would keep the delayed timeline nonnegative. That is not a general stock recommendation: another booking or an unusable return changes the result. Confirm accessible stock, an earlier return or a changed reset plan with the people responsible, then recalculate.

A zero gap covers only the inputs you entered. This worksheet does not make arrangements, sync bookings, inspect linens or promise a laundry arrival. It is for your own stock at one location; vendor-owned rental tracking may need a different process.

Use the format you already have

The free one-page checklist works independently. A paper timeline or your existing spreadsheet may cover the job. Keep different sizes and locations separate, preserve the opening snapshot and recheck any changed timing. No purchase is needed for this method.
